Professional Golf and the New MCS
DJ has been working with Jerry “The Big Toilet” Crowell, PGA since mid-February 2013 – Check BigToilet’s page for current events and info.
Jerry was So-Cal PGA section’s “Player of the Year” in 2012. On April 23rd, he shot a sizzling 63 (tied his PB) on his home course. That’s two months in, let’s see what he’s got cooking for us with his new swing!
Jerry Wrote Recently: “Thanks again to DJ for comprehensively breaking down the swing in real terms. In all my years of teaching and playing I have never got the confidence that I have attained since working with Deej, let alone the proper way to move most efficiently in motion in the golf swing.”

DJ Watts’ Golf Timeline:
1995 – First time playing golf. Missed the ball with my first practice swing after an impromptu lesson from my friend. “Played” approximately 10 rounds.
1996 – Played 15-20 rounds. Never practiced, visited perhaps 2-3 driving ranges, never came close to breaking 100.
1997 – Bought a range membership. First 5 lessons, Shot 80 twice that summer.
1998 – Broke 80 and quit playing golf, frustrated with the golf swing. Had a bad swinging round and walked away from the game. But the frustration of not being able to figure out the “simple” golf swing lingers…
1999-2005 – Played a few casual rounds, hit a few buckets of balls. Regarded golf as a long-ago sensation, not for me. But that golf swing, why is it so hard?
June 2005 – Watching the U.S. Open on Saturday afternoon. Haven’t hit a ball in a couple of years. Decide out of the blue to Figure Out the Proper Golf Swing, or the MCS (Mechanically-Correct Swing).
2006-2009 – Research. Moe Norman, Ben Hogan, Bobbie Jones, Jack Nicklaus, Sam Snead, Byron Nelson. Started “Swing Theory Golf” Blog detailing my driving range search for the right swing components. Someone in ’08 mentions Mike Austin as the man with the perfect golf swing. More research. Yes, it looks like he’s got it…
2009 – “Smash Golf” Blog detailing my return to playing golf instead of hitting balls at the range. No range work that season. Just show up at the first tee and play. Set personal driving distance records with drives of 350, 360, 370 and current course record 380 yards.
2010 – Released “Smash Golf MCS” Video & eBook
