Heavier/Slower Beats Lighter/Faster (Update)
(**Update: I have inserted a clip comparing my swings with the two different clubs at the bottom of the post) I conducted an un-scientific experiment yesterday at the range with two drivers. The first was the Taylor Made R7 Quad … Continue reading

Tinkering With My Driver
My driver problems have been an ongoing and well-documented problem to most people here since the Smash Golf Blog became DJ Watts Golf, but I’ll share my history for those new to the drama. I once had a KZG PFT300 … Continue reading

How To Break a Swing Stick…
I was thinking about Steve in MN, Chief and Brandon’s comment about speed training yesterday and I realized that I have been able to increase my swing speed using Mike Austin’s theory via my MCS swing to the neighbourhood of … Continue reading

Long Drive Experiment – Phase II
O.K., so I had said earlier this year that I was going to see how far I could go with the golf swing as far as power-production was concerned, without doing anything peripherally to increase my strength or speed (i.e., … Continue reading

Finding the Best Driver Loft
There is always a good deal of discussion between golfers who reach a certain skill level about which is more important for a driver – is it loft or the shaft flex and characteristics?

Why I Need a Fitted Driver
It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to know that one should ideally be playing golf with fitted equipment once they get to a certain proficiency. Now, I have come to the point this year where I won’t be able to … Continue reading

New Driver Experiment – Going Retro
Until I find the time and raise the resources (hopefully) with MCS 2.0 to get professionally fitted with equipment for next season (and there is actually a Callaway testing and fitting centre just north of Toronto where I intend to … Continue reading

The Titleist 975D Driver that Chief donated to the cause has arrived, and I’ll be heading out tomorrow to try it out. Thanks again to Chief for his generosity! In addition to this being the first 7.5 degree lofted Driver … Continue reading

What’s My Swing Speed?
It was raining today, and Steve’s question about my ball flight and loft took me to Golf Town, where I was looking to get a swing speed radar, that device that can measure club head speed and ball speed.
MCS Hip Action
One of the things I like to do is to break the swing down into key positions (I do it so you don’t have to), and compare what I see to what I would like to see.

Interesting – Technique vs Strength
I received an email this morning from someone with whom I’ve been corresponding for the last year or so. He’s in the physical training/rehab business and has worked with some well-known PGA Tour players.
Mission – Proving My MCS Theory
Mission – This year, I’m going to see exactly how far I can drive a golf ball using conventional equipment (pro-quality golf balls such as Titleist Pro V1, instead of long-drive balls, and regular-length golf clubs rather than long-drive shafts).
